The full toolset

Everything below comes in the one app. There's no "pro" tier and nothing to unlock later.

scan

Scan to PDF

Pull pages straight from any WIA or TWAIN scanner Windows can see, including old 32-bit drivers most apps have dropped.

compress

Compress

Shrink heavy scans while text and vector art stay sharp. You pick the DPI, quality, and grayscale.

sign

Sign & Stamp

Draw a signature, drop in an image, or sign with a certificate. Add page numbers and watermarks too.

decrypt

Remove Encryption

Clear owner-password locks on files you own, then save a clean copy you can actually edit.

ocr

OCR

Turn a scanned page into text you can search, select, and copy. Runs on Tesseract, fully offline.

pages

Merge & Split

Combine PDFs, images, or whole folders into one file. Reorder, insert, or pull pages out just as easily.

edit

Annotate & Edit

Add text, highlights, ink, shapes, and whiteout. Full colour picker, plus move, resize, and undo.

forms

Fill & Sign Forms

Type into real PDF form fields, tick boxes, choose options, and save your answers into the file.

crop

Crop & Transform

Trim margins, rotate, flip, and scale. Straighten a crooked scan by drawing a line along the horizon.

print

Print with Control

A real print dialog with live preview: scale, margins, pages per sheet, duplex, and colour at 300 DPI.

view

Multi-View Modes

Read one page at a time, scroll continuously, view spreads, or scan a grid. Tabs and full-screen included.

i18n

Multi-Language

The app speaks English, Spanish, Chinese, Bengali, Turkish, German, French, and Nepali. OCR handles 100+ languages.

A window that stays out of your way

Light and dark themes, a toolbar you can rearrange, and a sidebar you can resize. It looks like a proper Windows app because it is one.

Two ways to get it

The code is free and open. The $9.99 is for a ready-to-run build, and it keeps the project going.

Build it yourself

Would rather compile it from source? Go for it, honestly. It's GPL-3.0, so every line is yours to read and build. Just know what the afternoon looks like: you'll need Visual Studio and the .NET Framework 4.8 toolchain, some patience with dependencies, and you're on your own for updates and code-signing. Until you sign it yourself, Windows will warn people before it opens.
git clone …/StealthPDF msbuild /p:Configuration=Release

If that sounds like a good weekend, the source is right there and always will be. If you'd rather skip the setup and get your afternoon back, the $9.99 build is ready now, and buying it pays the person keeping StealthPDF independent and free to inspect. Both are fine by us.

Questions people actually ask

Why pay if it's open source?

You don't have to. The code is free under GPL-3.0, and anyone can clone and build it. The $9.99 gets you a signed, ready-to-run installer that updates itself, so you skip the whole build-and-maintain routine. It also pays for the time that goes into keeping the app alive.

Does StealthPDF really never upload my files?

Really. Your documents are never sent anywhere. There's no telemetry and no cloud processing. The one time it touches the network is to check for a new version, and you can turn that off. Your PDFs stay on your disk, full stop.

What about macOS and Linux?

For now it's Windows only (10 and 11, 64-bit). Mac and Linux versions are on the roadmap. Watch the GitHub repo if you want to know when they land.

Can I remove passwords from a PDF?

Yes, on files you're allowed to. StealthPDF clears owner-password locks (the ones that block printing, copying, or editing) without the password. If a file is sealed with a user password, you enter it once and then you can save a decrypted copy.

What if it doesn't work on my machine?

Email us within 14 days and we'll refund you in full, no interrogation. We'd rather you have your money back than a tool that won't run.

Which scanners does it support?

Pretty much any scanner with a WIA or TWAIN driver on Windows, which covers most flatbed, sheet-fed, and all-in-one units. There's even a built-in bridge for old scanners that only ship a 32-bit driver.

Keep your documents to yourself.

No subscription, no cloud, no account. Just a PDF editor that does its job on your computer.
